  43.         The HP Openview Switch/PAD Manager is connected to the network
  44.         via a local asynchronous connection to a HP Model 45 Plus
  45.         switching node or an HP 2334A/2335A PAD.  It can then be used to
  46.         manage a network of HP Model 45 Plus switching nodes and/or HP
  47.         2334A/2335A PADs.

  49.         With the HP Openview Switch/PAD Manager, based on the HP
  50.         OpenView workstation, system managers or network administrators
  51.         can centrally monitor the status of the entire network.  In
  52.         addition, the Switch/PAD Manager provides quick centralized
  53.         access for the configuration and control of HP Model 45 Plus
  54.         switching nodes and HP 2334A/2335A PADs.

  56.         These features help the network administrator increase network
  57.         uptime.  In addition, HP OpenView Switch/PAD Manager reduces
  58.         learning time for users by providing an easy-to-use graphical
  59.         interface based on HP OpenView Windows.

  65.         The HP OpenView Switch/PAD Manager allows the network
  66.         administrator to perform the following tasks :

  69.         . Network fault management : real-time alarm detection on an HP
  70.           Openview map and event reporting according to preset severity
  71.           levels.  Status of the HP Model 45 Plus switching nodes and HP
  72.           2334A/2335A PADs network is provided through a set of
  73.           pre-defined standard HP Openview icons. Four different colors
  74.           are used to reflect the status of each component according to
  75.           the level of alarm severity.

  79.           detected on the map, the HP OpenView Switch/PAD Manager allows
  80.           the network administrator to display the content of event
  81.           logfiles.  The search capabilities can then be used to view

  83.           particular timeframe.
